iGOTNEXT : Slaugherthouse

Slaughterhouse is an American Hip Hop group consisting of rappers Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce Da 5'9". The group formed in late 2008 after Crooked I, Joell Ortiz and Royce Da 5'9" appeared on the song "Slaughterhouse" from Joe Budden's album Halfway House. They took their name from the song. The group is planning to release a full-length album August 11, 2009 on the label E1 Music (formerly Koch Records). With a summer tour to promote both the group and the album including a spot on the annual "Rock the Bells" tour.

The members of Slaughterhouse all share some degree of controversy from their past in the music industry. Crooked I (Long Beach, CA) was signed to Suge Knight's Death Row label from 1999-2003, but left after his projects were shelved amidst the disintegration of the label due to Knight's continuing problems with the law. Joe Budden (Jersey City, NJ) had initial success when he signed to Def Jam in the early 2000s, but for reasons unknown, fell out of favor with Jay-Z when the latter became head of the label. Budden eventually left Def Jam and released a diss track to Jay-Z entitled "Talk to 'em." Joell Ortiz (New York, NY) was signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath label but left after he was informed that his album would not be released until both Eminem and Dr. Dre released their respective projects. Finally, Royce Da 5'9" (Detroit, MI) is known for his falling out and feud with Eminem and D12, though the two sides have since reconciled.

iGOTNEXT SPOTLIGHT: JUSTIN BIEBER

Usher introduced his teen protégé, Justin Bieber, to Los Angeles tastemakers yesterday (April 27) during a sit-down lunch at The Sunset Tower Hotel.
Justin Bieber is a Candian artist that is currently recording his Island Records debut in Atlanta, the 15-year-old Bieber is already at radio with the Chris "Tricky" Stewart-produced single "One Time." A video for the song has been shot. The album, titled "My World," is slated for release later this year.

Weaned on Bieber hails from Stratford, Ontario and only began singing three years ago. He was discovered on YouTube by manager Scooter Braun, a former So So Def marketing executive, after Bieber began posting homemade videos from his 2007 second-place contestant stint on a local singing competition. A chance meeting with Usher led to an audition and later to a recording contract offered last October by Island Def Jam chairman Antonio "L.A." Reid..

A musician as well, the fresh-faced Bieber performed a short acoustic set during which he played keyboards, guitar and the congas—adding that he's been playing full drums since he was two years old.

After posting dozens of homemade videos on YouTube in 2007, where the multi-talented Bieber put his impeccable spin on songs from artists like Usher, Ne-Yo and Stevie Wonder, Justin racked up over 10,000,000 views purely from word of mouth.

In October of 2008, Justin Bieber officially signed to Island Records. His debut album. With production from star hit men like The Dream and Tricky Stewart who produced “Umbrella” for Rihanna and Beyonce’s latest smash, “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It.

His first single, “One Time” produced by Tricky, is about one of Justin’s favorite topics, puppy love. Usher joins Justin on “First Dance” where the two share verses on a song that Bieber describes as, “A slow groovy song that people can dance to.” On the Midi-Mafia produced “Down to Earth” Justin digs deep to talk about growing up. “Bigger” finds the teenaged singer maturing at a steady rate, while motivating his listeners to strive for their goals.

Originally, this release was supposed to be Ingle's debut self-titled full-length album. This is the first release from Never Shout Never where his name no longer appears as one word with an exclamation point at the end. The EP debuted at #57 on The Billboard 200. The artwork for the CD was drawn by a girl who is only four years old. The packaging for CD will be made out of recycled materials. The physical copy of the CD comes with a download card that gives access to download "The Duet," a bonus track.

Never Shout Never started touring with The Scene Aesthetic, The Honorary Title, and The Bigger Lights in late February 2009. and then toured with bands such as Forever the Sickest Kids, The Cab, and Mercy Mercedes, among others in spring 2009 as part of The Bamboozle Roadshow 2009. He played at both The Bamboozle Left 2009 and The Bamboozle 2009.

"Happy" (March 3, 2009)Christofer Drew Ingle began his ventures with NeverShoutNever! in September of 2007. Using the internet, and specifically myspace, he has built his career and established a solid fanbase. Chris has no record label and is in complete control of all aspects of his music. He released is first EP, “Demo-schmemo” on February 29, 2008 and his second, more popular EP, “The Yippee EP” on September 25, 2008.

Chris began music very casually. His father had a guitar lying around, and he picked it up and began to play with help from a friend in his early teen years. His parents bout him a Macintosh computer for Christmas one year that had sound-editing software on it, and his rise to stardom began then and there. In middle school, Chris went through a self-described “emo stage” where he began to like bands like Dashboard Confessional. He often speaks of his admiration for Jack Johnson. These people are who he sites as his musical influences.

Great things are happening for Christofer Drew, and I don’t see his musical career ending any time soon.
