Young Chris is one part of Young Gunz. A Grammy-nominated rap duo from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They are composed of Young Chris (born Christopher F. Ries on March 9, 1983) and Neef Buck (born Haneef Muhammad on December 29, 1983). They are members of Beanie Sigel's State Property collective and are formely signed to the Roc-A-Fella Records label. Young Gunz' debut single, "Can't Stop, Won't Stop", was one of the biggest hit of 2003.
Chris scored his first hit as member of Young Gunz, with single "Can't Stop, Won't Stop", the lead-off single from the Chain Gang Vol II album. The song and its video received major airplay on the MTV2 and BET networks and radio, leading the song to reach #14 on the Billboard charts. And after the success of their single, "Can't Stop, Won't Stop".

Their debut album, Tough Luv. Debuted on the Billboard 200 at #3 after selling 128,000 copies in its first week. The album itself boasted features and production from the likes of artists and producers such as Jay-Z, Scott Storch, Just Blaze, Beanie Sigel, members of The Diplomats, Chingy & others. "Luv" also produced the hits "no better love" and "Friday Nights". The album received solid reviews and a 3.5rating from the Source magazine. The Young Gunz went on to achieved certified platinum status by the RIAA.

The duo returned with Swizz Beatz produced "Set It Off" from their second album, Brothers from Another. "Off"was produced by and features Swizz Beatz. The song's music video was directed by Chris Robinson. It peaked at number 52 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. This album, which was released May, 24th 2005, sales were somewhat of a disappointment compared to the first. It was the second release from the "new" Roc-A-Fella Records, referencing when Jay-Z became president of Def Jam Records, the first being Memphis Bleek's 534. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 at #15, and included guest features from Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, Slim of 112 (Marvin Scandrick III) and John Legend.

Young Chris has stated to XXL Magazine that he preparing to come out with a debut solo album, by the end of 2008. The interview, published June 26, 2008, talks about the struggles in the game since the Roc-A-Fella break up. Since, there has not been an album released. But I heard that he is curretly in talks with Jay-z to sign to Roc-Nation. According to website, he is curretly working on a mix tape. a single has been released called "Class of my Own"
