iGOTNEXT: Meek Mill

Meek Mill is not really a new artist, however, with his relationship with Nicki Minaj. Then mix in the his accusation that Drake uses a ghost writer. This hip-hop artist has earned the title of 'iGOTNEXT.'

These possibly calculated moves by Meek, has ascended him not just in hip-hop, also pop culture in America.

First he pairs up with Nicki Minja, one of the most successful female hip-hop artist to date. And one of the most popular and successful musical acts, currently making music now. Together they have become hip-hops new 'it' couple', creating a partnership that has been beneficial for Meek Mill. One can argue his recent release, "Dreams Worth More Than Money", commercial success was partly due to his relationship with America's top female rapper. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, selling 214,752 copies in the United States, becoming Meek Mill's first number-one album. Also, the largest sales week since his debut. The album also was the fourth largest sales in the first week for an album of the 2015. Which was corresponded with a release of an event record. Called "All Eyes On You", this song featured Nicki Minaj and R&B star Chris Brown. Becoming Mill's most successful song to date,becoming an instant hit. Climbing it's way to iTunes's top 10. And peaking at number 28 on Billboard's Hot 100.

Then Meek Mill revealed an open secret within hip-hop culture. However, it wasn't the secret that shocked Hip-Hop culture and rap music. It was the rapper he was accusing of keeping such frowned upon act, in Hip-Hop culture, and it was that Drake, was using a ghost writer. Meaning that one of the most celebrated lyricist was not writing the rhymes, that many from around the world identified with. Drake, a person representing a often repressed part of hip-hop culture. This revelation is turning Meek Mill into an house hold name. 

And it because of these events, i am giving Meek Mill the title of 'iGOTNEXT.' His action are creating an event that Hip-Hop been longing for, a needed rap battle.
